Tourism research institute is mandated to undertake and coordinate tourism research and analysis.

Currently 2 projects are ongoing;

  1. Comparative study on Kenya’s tourism performance and trends vis a vis global tourism trends. The rationale of the study is to find out why Kenya’s tourism sector is underperforming while its competitors are recording more rapid growth in tourists’ arrivals and receipts. The institute will be in a position to bring to fore the factors contributing to this scenario.
  2. An in-depth assessment of the Kenyan coastal beach tourism product. The rationale of the study is to establish why the coastal beach product performance is declining. TRI will provide practical strategies for addressing the declining performance
